Flood water damage can cause catastrophic failure to your engine. It doesn’t take much to drive through shallow water and your air filters, at the front of your car, can suck the water into your engine and cause it to be written off. As you drive through the water your front tyres act like a wall and they push the water away in front of them. This creates a wave and rises the water level in front of the wheels where your air filters sit. Equally if you have a car driving towards you that car will create a wave of water higher than its natural level and again the air filters, which sit low in the front apron, will suck the water into the engine.
