This results in a check engine light warning and a lack of performance, with a speed restriction being enforced by the engine management. An easy way to check is:
Stationary with the engine running. Open the door and listen for the exhaust note to change when you press the ‘S’ Sport mode button on the steering wheel. You should hear a clear change in the exhaust note. When the valve is working, the exhaust opens, and you will hear an increase in noise.
The design is at fault. The rectification is either a new exhaust silencer from Aston Martin at £3,000, or we can offer an alternative remedy.
