How do I know when it’s time to service my Aston Martin?

Regular servicing of your Aston is crucial to its health and value. Servicing should be conducted every year, with no exceptions. The importance of regular servicing isn’t just the oil change but the examination and inspection to make sure everything is operating correctly.

For example, we have just serviced a DB9 that had only covered 400 miles to find a mouse had made a nest in the engine bay and began to chew on the wiring loom, if this had been left in the garage the mouse would have done untold damage costing thousands. We saved it just in time and by chance. For the sake of a few hours of work checking from front to back it’s crazy to ignore.

The routine servicing will pay dividends when you want to sell, that’s for sure.

Is an independent service better than a franchise dealer?

A franchise dealer will drive your car into the workshop, change the oil with a visual inspection without even taking the wheels off, and drive the car back out. That’s it.

We will road test and report. Remove the wheels so we can thoroughly inspect the inside of your brakes. Remove your air filters for inspection. Read the control modules for any faults and update where required. Everything will be treated to grease where required and cleaned. Your pride and joy will be valeted and presented to you.

Remember we don’t target our Technicians. We will devote far more time, thought and care

The most common issues with Aston Martin cars is battery maintenance and quite frankly this goes for the majority of other brands where the cars are used infrequently. A trickle charger is your best friend. Leave your car plugged in the wall at all times then if you haven’t seen it for a few weeks there is no last minute panic. Battery voltage is crucial on start up specifically when the engine is cranking (turning over before it fires). If the voltage is 0.1 lower than it should be it might not have the energy to reach the furthest electronic modules on the car. The consequence of this is the module becomes confused, panics and flags a warning light. Easily prevented if stored correctly.
